Author Guidelines

PestBytes Journal (PBJ) is a peer-reviewed, open-access online journal dedicated to publishing high-quality scholarly, technical, professional, and industry-oriented content in the fields of pest management, urban entomology, public health pest control, vector management, integrated pest management (IPM), environmental health, and related disciplines.

White Papers

White Papers are evidence-based professional or technical documents intended to provide in-depth analysis, guidance, recommendations, best practices, policy perspectives, market assessments, technology evaluations, or strategic insights relevant to the pest management industry.

White Papers may be submitted by researchers, industry professionals, associations, institutions, consultants, manufacturers, service providers, or government agencies.

White Papers should be objective, evidence-based, and supported by references where applicable.

Word Count: 2,500-10,000 words

White Papers may undergo editorial review, peer review, or expert review at the discretion of the Editor.

Editorials

Invited articles written by members of the Editorial Board or invited experts.

Conference Reports

Reports summarizing conferences, workshops, seminars, and professional events relevant to pest management and public health.

Letters to the Editor

Brief communications discussing previously published articles or matters of professional interest.

Word Count: Up to 1,500 words

Manuscript Preparation

Language

Manuscripts must be submitted in clear and professional English.

Authors are responsible for ensuring grammatical accuracy and language quality prior to submission.

Formatting Requirements

  • Font: Times New Roman

  • Font Size: 12 pt

  • Line Spacing: 1.5

  • Margins: 2.54 cm (1 inch) on all sides

  • Page Numbers: Required

  • File Format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)

Title Page

The title page should contain:

  • Title of Manuscript

  • Full Names of Authors

  • Institutional Affiliations

  • Country

  • ORCID ID (recommended)

  • Corresponding Author Name

  • Email Address

  • Contact Information

Abstract

Maximum 250 words.

The abstract should briefly describe:

  • Purpose

  • Methodology

  • Key Findings

  • Conclusions

White Papers may use an Executive Summary instead of a structured abstract.

Keywords

Provide 3-8 keywords that accurately describe the content of the manuscript.

Tables and Figures

  • Tables and figures must be numbered consecutively.

  • Each table and figure should have a descriptive title.

  • Images must be high quality (minimum 300 dpi).

  • Authors are responsible for obtaining permission for copyrighted material.

References

PestBytes Journal follows the APA 7th Edition referencing style.

Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all references.

Ethical Requirements

Authors must ensure that:

  • The work is original.

  • The manuscript has not been published previously.

  • The manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere.

  • All listed authors have approved the submission.

  • Data are accurate and honestly presented.

  • Any conflicts of interest are disclosed.

Plagiarism Policy

All submissions are screened for plagiarism.

The Journal generally considers:

  • Similarity Index below 15%: Acceptable

  • 15–25%: Subject to editorial review

  • Above 25%: May result in rejection

Plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, and unattributed use of content are prohibited.

Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial, professional, institutional, or personal relationships that may influence the work presented.

If no conflict exists, authors should state:

"No conflict of interest has been declared by the author(s)."

Peer Review Process

PestBytes Journal follows a Double-Blind Peer Review process for research and review articles.

The Editor may determine alternative review procedures for White Papers, Industry Perspectives, Conference Reports, and Editorials where appropriate.
